Ingredients:
250g ground pork
150g shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/2 cup chopped water chestnuts
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp chopped green onions
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
24 wonton wrappers
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, shrimp, water chestnuts, garlic, green onions, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, sugar, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
Take a wonton wrapper and place it in the palm of your hand. Spoon about a tablespoon of the pork-shrimp filling into the center of the wrapper.
Gently gather the edges of the wrapper around the filling, creating a pleated effect at the top. Pinch the top of the wrapper to seal the filling inside.
Repeat the process with the remaining wonton wrappers and filling until all the filling is used up.
Preheat a steamer over medium-high heat. Place the Siewmai on a lightly greased steamer basket, making sure they are not touching each other.
Steam the Siewmai for about 8-10 minutes until the pork is cooked through and the wonton wrapper is tender.
Serve the Siewmai hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Enjoy your delicious homemade Siewmai!
